Description

Our client, a leading international solution provider for the energy sector, seeks to add a new member to their team as a "Workshop Planning Specialist." The incumbent will be responsible for planning, monitoring and scheduling the flow of materials, components, assemblies and inventory throughout the manufacturing process. This position is based in Takoradi, Ghana.


Responsibilities include:
• Plans for the procurement or manufacturing of parts, components or materials to meet production schedules. Reports manufacturing status to the Project team.
• Creates, updates and maintains service orders for the project as required. Keeps up with project deliverables.
• Makes changes to project status in tracking systems as required. Receives and enters sourcing directives from management into tracking systems.
• Maintains service order deadlines in coordination with Project and Logistics coordinators. Supports parts requests as required for service order work and communicates status with Logistics coordinator as needed.
• Serves in on-call rotation to support offshore operations. Monitors the flow of inventory through assigned projects.
• Participates in weekly team meetings, advises on status of critical items and assists project team in prioritizing work. Detects potential problems in meeting deadlines. Troubleshoots workshop or purchase order issues and facilitates resolution.
• Ensures computerized parts inventory is up to date. Interacts with Engineering to maintain current parts records and sources parts as needed.
• Provides cost, lead time, and stock status for parts for current and upcoming projects. Maintains parts shortage reports. Develops and maintains a safety stock for specific items as needed. Makes recommendations and takes actions to minimize inventory surpluses.
• Assists in the resolution of lost parts issues either in tracking down missing parts or in facilitating the production of part substitutions.

Qualifications & Skills:
• BA or BS in Business Administration, Procurement, Operations, Engineering or related field. In lieu of BA or BS, must have 3+ years equivalent work experience in materials planning, scheduling or purchasing systems.
• APICS certification or specialty training in materials or production control desired.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and Office or equivalent applications; SAP or similar mainframe / MRP system experience preferred.
• Must be mechanically inclined and have an understanding of machining, manufacturing and procurement processes. Technical or engineering experience preferred.
• Must demonstrate good communication and negotiation skills; ability to interact with suppliers and co-workers in a team.
• Must demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy. Able to multi-task in a high volume environment.
• Must demonstrate good organization and planning skills. Must be a self-starter who is able to independently accomplish tasks and meet goals.
