Our client, a leading international solution provider for the energy sector, seeks to add a new member to their team as a "Quality Assurance Engineer." The incumbent will support quality assurance activities related to product line and supply chain management including quality, inspection and testing plans, receiving and sourcing inspections and quality & process improvements. This position is based in Takoradi, Ghana.
Responsibilities include:
• Develops plans and modules to effectively manage product quality. Reviews and approves quality documentation and data.
• Performs and may lead internal and external audits of quality assurance systems.
• Performs and may lead technical, support, and quality audits of internal and external suppliers.
• Acts as liaison for requests for corrective action and reports of non-conformance. Communicates and coordinates with management, clients and needed internal departments for the timely resolution of quality issues. Investigates process or system procedure issues, evaluates root cause, recommends corrective action and follows-up to ensure that action was effective.
• Communicates and coordinates with Engineering departments for supplier material and welding qualifications requirements.
• Maintains on-going technical communications with suppliers and may facilitate supplier improvement programs that improve quality and delivery of products. Makes recommendations for, performs and may lead trainings, corrective actions, reviews and evaluation of supplier performance. Participates in review boards.
• Develops statistical sampling plans to inspect supplier parts at the receiving inspection. Communicates with purchasing and receiving inspection personnel on supplier issues and training.
• Seeks assistance from higher level technical professionals and experts if needed. May act as a mentor to less experienced staff and assist in training, monitoring and coaching.
Qualifications / Skills:
• BSc or HND in Engineering or a technical discipline. Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance or inspection in the engineering field.
• Six sigma training or certifications and practical experience in Black Belt preferred. Knowledge of ISO 9001 or API Q1, ASQ Certification in Quality Engineering, Quality Management or Quality Auditing are also preferred.
• Knowledge of inspection tools as well as measurement and calibration system.
• Must have solid functional knowledge of MS Excel, Access or Project or equivalent applications.
• Must demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational skills as well as the ability to lead and mentor others.
• Must be a team player, open to others and able to communicate information to the appropriate parties at the appropriate times.
• Must possess excellent and effective English communication skills including business writing.
• Able to multi task and meet client deadlines in a fast paced environment.
